Hello, I would like to know if anyone is using Azure VDI through BeyondTrust PRA.

Since RDP is not available for AVD, we need to access it through Web Jump, and the performance is a nightmare.

If anyone has similar experience or ideas, it would be great to share them.

When you say RDP is not available with Azure virtual desktop, does this mean you simply do not have access to the VDI via RDP?  I thought I read that RDP is accessible for Azure VDI.

In addition to RDP, have you considered installing a jump client?  It simply requires port 443 outbound to your PRA instance.

With webjump, have you obtained a packet capture to diagnose the the connection for performance?

Yes, Azure Virtual Desktop only works natively through the Windows App client (or webclient), which connects to the gateway and then redirects you via RDP to a specific machine.

Technically, I can connect directly to a machine in the pool via RDP, but if I do that, Azure won’t be aware that this session exists and therefore won’t scale the pool of machines and FSLogix not working. I currently have many users connected over a large pool.

Regarding performance, I haven’t done a packet capture, and I also haven’t considered installing the BeyondTrust Jump Client for the same reason I mentioned before: since it’s a dynamic pool of machines that spin up and down depending on usage, the Jump Client approach doesn’t really fit my scenario.

Understood, so the premise here is liken to a terminal server.  The BT client will intentionally interact with Session 0 of the host.  I would advise to contact our support engineering team and open a ticket to find out exactly what is supported behavior with Azure VDI environment.
