A short, friendly note for anyone who self-manages BeyondTrust software.

Security is a moving target, and the single best way to stay ahead of it is to run a current, fully supported version of the products you rely on. That thinking is behind a change we're rolling out, and I wanted you to hear it directly from me.

If you're one of our SaaS customers, this isn't something you need to think about - we handle patching and upgrades for you, so you never fall out of our support window.

For our on-prem / self-hosting customers, starting this week you'll begin to see friendly reminders in the Support Portal, here on BeeKeepers, and in your support cases. Those reminders will let you know that if you're running a version more than two years past its initial release, you should focus on getting to a more current version of your solution. This isn't a new rule; we've always supported each major version for two years from its general availability (GA) date; we're simply going to be more consistent about it.

Why staying current is worth it

  • Stronger security. The latest fixes, including for newly discovered vulnerabilities, land in current releases. Staying current is the most reliable way to shrink your attack surface. Our membership in Project Glasswing is a great example of our commitment to your security, and that an increased cadence and volume of patching is likely in the coming months.
  • Full support. In-version deployments get our complete troubleshooting and fix support - the fastest path to resolution when something goes wrong.
  • New capabilities. Current versions unlock the newest features and the performance and stability improvements we ship across the platform.
  • Easier upgrades. Regular, smaller hops are far less painful than one big jump after years on an old build.
  • Compliance. Running supported software is increasingly expected by auditors and cyber-insurers.

What this means for you

  • If you're already current, nothing changes - thank you, and carry on.
  • If you're behind, the date to know is January 13, 2027: our goal is to have you on a supported version by then. From January 14, 2027, our support focus for out-of-version deployments shifts exclusively to helping you get current.
  • Again, if you're on SaaS? You're already covered - we keep you current, so there's nothing for you to do.

We're here to help

You won't be doing this alone. Upgrade guides and release notes live in the Support Portal, and in our robust technical documentation repository. If you have a TAM or CSM, they will also help you build a plan, and our Professional Services team can take on the heavier lifts.

Staying current keeps you more secure, better supported, and ready for what's next. Questions? Open a case or reach out to your account team - we're glad to help.
