Preliminary note: please talk to the account manager if you’re looking to have 2x the appliances that are actively ‘running’ (license concerns) and if there are other items, such as security testing that are occurring, looking at having support on these devices, etc. We can work with you to understand specific goals and ensure the best technical solution exists.

What is the goal of the clone? You mentioned it would be ‘working’ but in which way?
If it’s a 1:1 clone, the first issues you’ll probably hit:
- DNS configurations to reach the desired running system
- We warn against changing the hostname after configuring the system so they would have the same hostname; they could have separate IPs but the hostname would be the same
- Rotating passwords, etc. - if they’re trying to reach out and independently manage the same systems, you could lock yourself out when it rotates the functional account on one system (assuming using a separate SQL DB)

Hey @Cygnus-x1 - please reach out to your account representative and they’ll help guide through the options (in customer portal, under contacts, you’ll see the details of your account owner)
Having gone through exactly what your refencing before Cygnus-x1, we took a snapshot of the both UVM’s and the database, took those snapshots and stood up 2 new system and a database with slightly different DNS and then disabled the automated password change on the smart rules and against the system accounts so they essentially had a carbon copy of the system to play with.
One route that we had considered going was standing up an entirely different domain with all the same accounts and information and then linking a copy of our systems to that domain so that our pentesters essentially had their own playground.
But I do agree with what tclowater said, reach out to your account rep and they can talk through options and lay out pro’s and con’s to various methods.
