Hi,

I have a lot of customer who needs Secret Safe + Workforce Password features for all their users to be able to provide a central password storage system. However the licensing model around Secret Safe is crazy because they have to buy a full Password Safe license, just to be able to use Secret Safe module…. and moreover they have to buy a new license just for WFP !

I would like to understand why Secret Safe is not bind as WPF on end user licensing ???

Please provide us more flexibility on this because we are loosing projects :-/

Hello Fabien,

Both Secrets Safe and Workforce Passwords are part of Password Safe and require a Password Safe license to use.

Hi,

It is not the reality because we can buy 10 PasswordSafe Licenses and add 200 Workforce Password add-ons so these licenses are not directly linked together.

However there is no SecretSafe add-on so we have to buy a PasswordSafe full license just to use the secret safe module. However, if we compare features and usage Secret Safe is closer to Workforce Password than Password Safe itself.

I really think that an improvement on this could be done to win projects around team and personal vaulting. It’s just an idea ...

Hello Fabien Landais!

PasswordSafe is the underlaying technology platform which runs Workforce Passwords and SecretSafe. The only difference here is that the Workforce Passwords feature is a paid-for add-on to PasswordSafe, whereas SecretSafe is just included as part of the PasswordSafe product. As far as I know, both Workforce Passwords and SecretSafe are not separate products and are part of the PasswordSafe product line. Hence the PasswordSafe and Workforce Passwords Licenses are tied together, since one relies on the other to operate.

We have the same set up for a couple of our other products, regarding Add-Ons or some Integrations, which are not included and thus are paid for in order to access/use.

If you wish to see an improvement to this product or the types of licencing we have, I would highly recommend you logging a new Idea in the Ideas Portal, found at the top of the screen. I would happily up-vote an idea like this.

To my knowledge Workforce Password license will give an individual user that log on to Password Safe a Personal folder that only that user has access to. That is Workforce Password.

If Secret Safe features permissions will be assigned also to a Security Group in AD/Entra ID, that will be a “Shared Safe” among the members of that Security Group. Still allowed to use the same plugin for Workforce Password to access the Secrets in Secret Safe and the Personal folder.
Secret Safe will require a PWS license per user accessing.

Workforce Password is also assigned to a Security Group of users similar to Secret Safe, and are a different license. You do not need a full PWS License for a user only assigned Workforce Password feature, only if both is assigned!

I would validate with your account manager, but think I am correct on this one.

@Fabien Landais Secret Safe is a feature of Password Safe, was never meant to be a standalone product/use-case.

WFP is a different use-case and not tied to the Password Safe licensing metrics - as this capability can be provisioned to ALL company users, not just privileged access users.
