Question

Has anyone deployed PRA jumpoints using Docker container?

This might be a bit too big of a question for this forum. However, I am not sure where to start. We are still somewhat new to PRA. I am wanting to start using Docker containers for our jumpoints instead of putting them on Linux instances.

First, where do I go to download the container image? I heard that there is a stock image that we would use and then just input the key to start the connection to our system.

Second, can we put the container in a service like AWS container service or Azure container service?

Third, and this will show my very beginner level of experience with containers, would we do the firewall rules for the containers the same way that we do them for the Linux servers that are jumpoints?

I have a feeling there are other items that I am totally missing, but I figured this is a good start. If you know of documentation you can point me to I am more than happy to start reading and testing things out.

Hello @RussellY

Please have a look at our KB on deploying a Jumpoint using Docker. This should get you started.

I will check that out. I am having issues getting to the KB. This is an issue I have had before. I click on the link and it asks me to log in using Okta. Then it tries to do the login, then goes to the logout page. I have fought with this for some time. I usually eventually get in each time. Not sure what causes the issue. This is a me issue however.

I did get containers working using Podman. I found a couple of items in the main documentation that were sort of incorrect. I will be sending an update through our TAM on those. The big one was a switch that the documentation says is optional that is most definitly not. Well at least under Podman it is not optional. Maybe under Docker it would be.

I do like what I am seeing so far. It looks like it would significantly streamline deploying nodes in jumpoint clusters. I have gotten shell jump working through it. I am struggling getting tunnels working. I have not been able to test an RDP jump yet.
