Hi Guys,

Can anyone address this query?

Does PRA Remote RDP Jump using SecureApp with Type Remote Desktop Agent requires Cal License.

Use case is we have an application that needs to be accessed, so we configured the Remote RDP jump short cut and configured  SecureApp with Type selected Remote Desktop Agent. If Yes Cal is needed then why do we have two options one RemoteApp and the other Remote Desktop Agent.

please let me know how to go ahead without the Cal license for this use case

Hello @naidu_jsts

When you create a Remote RDP Jump shortcut you have 3 options under “Secure App”

  1. None, Makes a normal RDP connection to the target. Does not require a CAL
  2. Remote App, Connects to a Microsoft RDS server and launches a published Remote App. Requires a Microsoft RDS server setup with published apps. Requires a CAL
  3. Remote Desktop Agent, This makes a normal RDP connection but launches the app you specify as an alternate shell. Similar to launching a .RDP file that includes the “alternate shell:s:c:\winnt\system32\notepad.exe”.  Does not require an RDS server or a CAL (can use one of the 2 free RDP connection slots on Windows Server)

Regards,

John

But still for the Remote Desktop Agent we need the Cal license if we go more than two. Does not make any logic to have Remote App and Remote Desktop Agent. As the use case is more for the apps which does not open using chromium for them we need to use Remote Desktop Agent and that brings the cal as for web jump multiple people would be logging in.
