Hi All,

Can someone suggest how we can migrate privileged passwords from one source password manager and cloud-based password manager to BeyondTrust Password Safe?

Hey @Richas2513,

It depends on the type of credential. If it’s something where it’s a managed account, then I would recommend the discovery methods for those use cases and migrate batches at a time and mark them inactive (and hopefully now inaccurate!) with the migration.

If this is more for a Secrets Safe credential list, first would be understanding the expected structure and permissions (my personal opinion), and then either importing via CSV or API migration and removal from the other source. For the permission sets, this would depend on the use case. Note the limitations in the event it’s a challenge on some: https://beyondtrustcorp.service-now.com/csm?id=kb_article_view&sysparm_article=KB0020443. As well, it might be helpful to read through Import Secrets in Secret Safe | Community

If it’s a team that is using the safe, and not expected sharing, I would recommend having a PasswordSafe user group assigned with permissions Create/Read/Update/Delete (CRUD) only within the safe, not Manage Safe permissions. This will allow better handling of the user lifecycle for when they join or leave that group (hopefully in line with role mapping)

If this is where Workforce passwords have been purchased and users are onboarding this to their personal location, then this would be best used with the CSV import. KB for Personal: https://beyondtrustcorp.service-now.com/csm?id=kb_article_view&sysparm_article=KB0021043
